RANKIN INLET, NU - More than $170 million was spent on mining exploration in Nunavut last year, but it's not meant an economic boom for the Inuit, says a leader with the territory's land claims organization. YELLOWKNIFE, NT - Canada's auditor general says the N.W.T.'s enormous resource potential is being hampered by poor management of the development process by Indian and Northern Affairs. Shiela Fraser says investment in the Northwest Territories is at risk, due to weak management by the federal government. Fraser's latest report criticizes Indian and Northern Affairs' poor support of regulatory boards set up under the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act.

CALGARY, AB - Enbridge and PetroChina International are working together to develop a $2.5-billion pipeline to supply Asia with crude oil from Alberta's oilsands.
