9th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser

On Friday, June 3^rd2011, CANDO had the pleasure of co-hosting the 9th Annual NIEEF Charity Golf Tournament with the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation at the Montgomery Glen Golf & Country Club in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. This golf course was an excellent place for stakeholders and guests to get together to network; but most of all, the tournament helped raise funds for the National Indigenous Economic Education Fund (NIEEF), CANDO’s charitable organization that provides annual scholarships to Community Economic Development students across Canada.

With a total of 44 golfers, despite the chilly weather, the tournament was a great success and there is no doubt that golfers truly enjoyed the day. After a plentiful dinner, and entertainment by impersonator Jim Ralph, prizes were awarded to this year’s golf tournament winners in the following categories:

1st Place

Men’s Team : Carter Yellowbird and Kevin Littlechild
Ladies Team : Sheryl Manychief and Michelle White
Mixed Team : Laurie Buffalo and Leonard Buffalo

2nd Place

Men’s Team : Ron Ahennakew and Kyle
Ladies Team : Colleen Buffalo and Delilah Mah
Mixed Team: Arrol Crier and Pauline John

3rd Place

Men’s Team: Dave Morin and Henry Quinney
Mixed Team : Gail Joe and Cliff Fregin

Numerous door prizes were also awarded, and no one left empty-handed. Special thanks to all of the organizations listed below for kindly sponsoring the remainder of the golf holes and donated a number of door prizes.

Proceeds from this event will go towards CANDO’s charitable foundation, the National Indigenous Economic Education Foundation (NIEEF) and the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation for Aboriginal scholarships. Apply for the NIEEF Scholarship.
