Virtual Tour of Aboriginal Canada
Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), the Federal Partner - Aboriginal Tourism Working Group (ATWG) and Aboriginal partners aim to enhance Aboriginal participation in the tourism economy through a partnership to design, market, launch and maintain a Virtual Tour of Aboriginal Canada (VTAC) web-site.
The goal of VTAC is to serve as the premier tool for identifying and promoting "market and export ready" Aboriginal entrepreneur and community tourism products and services. VTAC will be linked to the
Virtual Aboriginal Trade Show (VATS), and be hosted and promoted on the
Aboriginal Canada Portal. Once up and running other strategic linkages and marketing initiatives are anticipated.
VTAC will be a website that people anywhere in the world can use to virtually visit "connected" Aboriginal communities in Canada. By working with provincial, territorial and Aboriginal stakeholders it will highlight market ready and export ready product that will include "business to business" to link products with wholesalers, etc. It will also have a resource center platform.

FedNor
As part of FedNor's comprehensive Team Northern Ontario Trade Strategy released in the spring of 2003, the FedNor International Business Centre (IBC) opened its doors in September 2003 with the goal of developing the trade capacity of Northern Ontario businesses.
While the FedNor IBC is responsible for the implementation of the trade strategy and is FedNor's focal point for trade and tourism program development, five recently created Community-Based Trade Organizations (CBTOs) located across the North serve as the first points of contact for Northern Ontario small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and First Nations. The CBTOs facilitate and support information exchange, training, counselling and the sharing of best practices for export and trade initiatives.
For more information on the activities of the FedNor IBC or to learn how your export/trade needs can be met, contact your local CBTO or call FedNor at 1-877-333-6673. You can also visit the
Team Northern Ontario Web site for information on the latest trade mission opportunities for Northern Ontario exporters.
The FedNor International Business Centre (IBC) for Trade and Tourism is committed to making a positive difference in the global competitiveness of Northern Ontario. Working in partnership with community stakeholders and business leaders, the FedNor IBC develops and implements key strategies to strengthen linking to international markets and promote greater opportunities for the North.
The centre opened its doors on September 17, 2003, recognizing that trade and tourism increase the wealth of the region by bringing in new money in return for the purchase of local goods and services.
