Tribal Treks "Canada's Aboriginal Experience"

Aug 21, 2008

What is the series about?
Tribal Treks is a 13-part HD reality series which documents the experiences of everyday Canadians and international tourists as they partake in Aboriginal tourism adventures. So far, we have sent professional dancers to powwows to learn ancient Aboriginal dances, we have sent outdoor enthusiasts into the wilderness in search of the famous white Kermode bear and we have documented the experiences of city dwellers who strive to find more meaning in their lives through exposure to Aboriginal ceremonies and nature. It is our goal to not only promote Aboriginal tourism, but to teach the viewer about Aboriginal culture. We also strive to document the friendships that are built between the non-Aboriginal people we send out to the destinations and the people they meet on their adventures.

Who is behind the series?
Tribal Treks is produced by Brenco Media Inc., a multi-media company owned and operated by Brenda Chambers, a member of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. Brenco Media offers a variety of video production/television services and communication programs to private and public sector organizations.

Where will it be broadcast?
The show is currently licensed by APTN, however Brenco Media Inc. is pursuing broadcasters such as Discovery Channel, Outdoor Life Network and CTV Travel & Escape, who have expressed interest in broadcasting the show. We are also seeking international broadcasters in countries such as Japan and Germany.

Sponsors
Aboriginal tourism is creating new economies for First Nations and allowing Aboriginal people to share their cultures with people all around the world in very positive ways. Many Aboriginal communities have tourism ventures and are looking to market these companies to the world.

As many of these tourism operators are small, we need sponsors to assist with production costs. Once a sponsor is identified for an episode or series of episodes, we are able to feature these Aboriginal tourism ventures on our television show and web site, so they can benefit from the national and international exposure that Tribal Treks offers.

The sponsor, in turn, would get their logo prominently featured in the closing credits of the show and on our Tribal Treks web site. They will also receive DVD copies of the show for promotional use, as well as negotiated access to the stock footage library.
The stock footage we have captured so far with our high definition camera is absolutely stunning. We have amazing scenic footage which really showcases the beauty of British Columbia, as well as cultural imagery including dancers,
Aboriginal people and communities. We also have wildlife footage including pictures of grizzly bears, eagles, seals, whales, black bears, as well as extremely rare shots of a white Kermode bear cub.

Where can I get more information about Tribal Treks?
