2010 Dehcho Business Conference: Bringing People and Business Into the Same Circle, Hay River, NWT

The three-day event will open with engaging and informative keynote and plenary presentations designed to prepare delegates for maximum participation in the interactive working forums. Interactive working forums are planned to provide opportunity for delegates to discuss and learn about immediate action to be considered and taken to benefit from the Mackenzie Valley Gas Pipeline. Existing and emerging business people are invited to participate in professional business development workshops organized for day three of the conference.

A business networking event is organized for the evening of Tuesday, March 16. Plan to attend this opportunity to build new business relationships and generate business opportunities.

Dr. Manley A. Begay, Ed.D. is the conference keynote speaker. Dr. Begay is Director, Native Nations Institute and Senior Lecturer and Associate Social Scientist of American Indian Studies, American Indian Studies Program, University of Arizona. He is also co-director of the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Dr. Begay is a member of the Navajo Nation in Arizona. In keeping with Navajo culture and traditional economy, Dr. Begay will be gifted with a buffalo hide in trade for his professional fee as keynote speaker.

Conference invited speakers sharing their business expertise, include Chief Clarence Louie, Osoyoos Indian Band; Catherine M. Twinn, Aboriginal Lawyer, Sawridge Band; Danny Gaudet, President, Deline Construction, NWT; Perry Kocis, Senior Aboriginal Advisor, TransCanada Pipelines; Helder Ponte, Director of Economic Investments, Ktunaxa Nation, to name a few.
