Moving Forward Together Conference: Building Strong, Healthy and Safe Métis Communities

Mar 28-31, 2010

The Métis Nation of Alberta Intergovernmental Relations team is proud to host its 5th annual policy and community development conference from March 28th – 31st, 2010 at the Chateau Louis Inn & Conference Centre in Edmonton, entitled “Moving Forward Together: Building Strong, Healthy and Safe Métis Communities.” We want to make this conference an even greater success than last years conference held in February 2009, which brought together over 300 committed Métis community members and leaders from around the province.

At the 2010 conference, we plan to again offer informative sessions that focus on current, relevant socio-economic and cultural issues such as emergency preparedness and pandemic planning, traffic safety, health, housing, education, children’s services, FASD, constitution, governance and rights. We will highlight current initiatives being implemented, and facilitate discussion on ways we can all ‘move forward together.’ Information and successful strategies gained by conference participants are further disseminated to the Metis community throughout the province. The conference also provides valuable information and insights for those who work with the Métis community.

If you would like more information about how you can participate, please contact Fran Hyndman, Conference Co-chair at 780.732.3381 or by email at fhyndman@metis.org.
