ACCA is seeking a dynamic team player with strong leadership and interpersonal skills that will foster positive relationships with government and other stakeholders for the network of Aboriginal Financial Institutions (AFIs).

NACCA is the association of AFIs. AFIs provide access to capital and business support to Aboriginal entrepreneurs. In partnership with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development of Canada, NACCA provides the Access-to-Capital program, which increases AFI capacity through underwriting support and training, providing capital for loan funds to unserviced areas and offers an interest-rate-buydown to attract additional loan capital AFIs. Inaddition NACCA develops best practices, develops new financial products, and advocates with all levels of public and Aboriginal governments on behalf of its AFI members.

NACCA’s National office is situated in Ottawa, Ontario with a current staff of seven (7) with anticipated growth of approximately 50% in the next three to five years. The CEO will oversee the NACCA daily operations and report to a Board of Directors.

The Candidate: The CEO is accountable and responsible for the management of NACCA. The CEO will oversee and assess NACCA’s staff achievement of its’ goals and objectives as set out in its strategic plan, and complemented by an annual operating plan for which they are responsible for the development of. Reporting to the Chair of the Board, the CEO will be responsible for significant project funding under the ATC Program to the AFIs. A major challenge of the position is to continuously secure resources for its members from public, private and aboriginal sources while concurrently leading the development of financial services and products and best practices. The successful candidate will be a well-respected leader with proven senior management expertise and creditability. The successful candidate should meet the following requirements:

- A bachelor of commerce degree or equivalent with a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the business development and lending field or an equivalent of education and/or experience;

- Proven senior management experience in either the private or public sectors;

- Demonstrated high level of financial skills and experience combined with proven strategic leadership abilities;

- Ability to initiate, formulate and execute major policies, programs, and objectives to promote and ensure the organization’s sustainability;

- Ability to provide complete, clear and concise reporting mechanisms, meet deadlines and work under pressure;

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with strong public speaking skills;

- Experience working with Aboriginal communities, political organizations, and regional, provincial and federal governments; and

- Ability and willingness to travel.
