The Institute for Information Technology (NRC-IIT) is one of the National Research Council's (NRC) 20 research institutes and national programs. NRC-IIT is a multi-site organization, with facilities in Ottawa, ON; Fredericton, Moncton, NB; and Gatineau, QC. The Learning and Collaborative Technologies (L&CT) group of NRC's Institute for Information Technology (NRC – IIT) develops technologies that increase the abilities of both individuals and organizations to acquire share and apply knowledge. The group supports the learning and collaborative technologies community in Canada through: the generation of original research; the adaptation of research developed by other agencies; and direct contribution to the learning and collaboration technology cluster in New Brunswick and across Canada.
Your Challenge
The incumbent will support the mission of NRC and IIT with R&D activities of international scientific and technological caliber. He/she will carry out innovative R&D activities which can be applied to the areas of NRC IIT priorities, including the Cluster area of advanced learning technologies. He/she will: Plan, manage and carry out and support innovative research that will advance knowledge and create new technologies using novel theories and scientific concepts; Disseminate research findings through presentations and scientific publications; Work collaboratively with other groups and disciplines to produce intellectual property related to the research area priorities of NRC-IIT through novel conceptualization and implementations that will lead to novel technologies with potential for patents/licenses and developing system prototypes; Create partnership links with industry in order to carry out R&D activities; Train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students, programmers, etc.
