Ernie Bourassa

Born and raised in the Yukon, Ernie graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce degree then spent 20 years in the insurance industry as a broker and brokerage owner. In 2000 he became the Mayor of the City of Whitehorse and stayed in that position for two terms until 2006. Among his proudest accomplishments as Mayor were the development of Shipyards Park, the Canada Games Center, the Millennium Trail and bridge, and of course the successful planning of the 2007 Canada Winter Games. In 2007 he had a brief tenure as the President of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce before moving to Kelowna for 18 months before deciding to return to Whitehorse and spending 6 years as a Realtor with RE/MAX. In May of 2015 Ernie accepted the position of CEO for the Selkirk Development Corporation and is now engaged in working closely with the Board and the Selkirk First Nation to develop business opportunities on their behalf.
