Chief Donald Maracle

Chief R. Donald Maracle has served as chief of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte for the past eighteen years and as a Councillor of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Council for 12 years. He has a deep concern and respect for the community in which he serves and has always strived to achieve a better quality of life for his people. Chief Maracle sits on a number of committees, including: Ontario Chief’s Committee on Health; AIAI Chief’s Council; Ontario Heritage Board; Christ Church Chapel Royal of the Mohawk Restoration Committee. Chief Maracle is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee. The Chief carries the responsibility that goes along with the committees very seriously. His long political experience has enabled him to set goals and to accomplish many tasks for his community. Chief Maracle enjoys researching and lecturing on Iroquoian history and is frequently called upon to share his wealth of knowledge on this topic with a wide range of groups and organizations off the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
