Harry M. Bombay

Harry Bombay, over the past twenty-five years, has held senior-level and leadership positions in the areas of Aboriginal economic and community development.  He has served in governmental agencies such as Indian and Northern Affairs, Parks Canada, and the Canadian Wheat Board, and in non-governmental organizations such as the Assembly of First Nations, the Canadian Executive Service Organization and the National Aboriginal Forestry Association (NAFA).  Mr. Bombay has managed and directed national programs in natural resources management, institutional development and consulting and advisory support.

Currently, Mr. Bombay serves as the Executive Director of NAFA, where he is responsible for organizational development, strategic planning and the creation of partnerships with governments and industry stakeholders, in addition to day-to-day administration.  As a committed advocate for Aboriginal Peoples’ forest rights and interests, he has contributed publications and presentations on forest issues and has participated in numerous national and international forest policy forums.  Since NAFA’s establishment, Mr. Bombay has served on a number of national boards and committees such as the Sustainable Forest Management Network Board of Directors, and the Boreal Forest Task Force of the National Roundtable on the Economy and the Environment. 

Mr. Bombay studied Business Management at Bemidji State College in Bemidji, Minnesota, and Public Administration and social policy at the graduate level at Carleton University in Ottawa.  Harry is a member of the Rainy River Ojibway First Nation situated forty kilometres from Fort Frances in North-western Ontario.
