The National Indigenous Economic Education Foundation (NIEEF) provides scholarships, training and research funding for learners and educators involved in Aboriginal Community Economic Development.  CANDO and NIEEF are proud to announce the winner of the second annual scholarship awarded at this year’s Annual National Conference & AGM.

Ms. Darlene Johnson is from the Samson Cree Nation of Hobbema, Alberta; she is currently studying at the University of Saskatchewan in her fourth and final year in the Edwards School of Business with a specialization in Human Resources and a concentration in Aboriginal Initiatives.

In her acceptance speech, Darlene thanked CANDO and NIEEF for making the scholarship possible. Darlene remembered her late grandmother – it was her influence that helped Darlene to pursue her dreams of getting formal education.  She also encouraged “all other people to go this route; it’s a challenging route,” she said,” but if we work together – we can do it!”

Congratulations, Darlene!  We wish you success in your future endeavours
