Alberta


Apeetogosan (Metis) Development Inc.

All applicants must:
  1. provide evidence they are Metis
  2. have a financial need
  3. have been an Alberta resident for at least three years prior to applying
  4. demonstrate an investment in a commitment to Aboriginal communities in Alberta. The funding is available to students for the first year while attending any recognized post secondary institute and there are no restrictions on how the funds are expensed.

NIEEF Annual Aboriginal Scholarships

The National Indigenous Economic Education Foundation (NIEEF) provides scholarships, training and research funding for students involved in Aboriginal community economic development. NIEEF is the charitable organization of the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers (CANDO). The NIEEF Aboriginal Scholarships will be awarded to three successful applicants at CANDO's 17th Annual National Conference & AGM. Each scholarship is worth $3,000. Selection will be based on passing Grade 12 marks or post secondary GPA (Grade Point Average).

To qualify for this scholarship, you:
  1. Must be a CANDO student member;
  2. Attending or currently enrolled in a post secondary institution;
  3. Studying in the fields of: Business Administration/Economics, Business Finance, Business Management, Natural Resources and CED;
  4. Submit a cover letter and a short essay describing your career goals and aspirations.

First Citizens Fund Student Bursary Program

The Student Bursary Program of the First Citizens Fund provides financial assistance to Aboriginal students enrolled in post-secondary education programs. Students must be ordinarily resident in British Columbia and registered full-time in a post-secondary of two or more year's duration. To qualify, students must demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average or C+ grade equivalent. The program supports undergraduate and graduate students in degree programs, and students in two-year diploma or certificate programs. Bursaries are also available to students with disabilities who may need more time to complete their education. Students may qualify for one of the two funding streams: $2000 (Based on financial need) or $700 (if receiving a living allowance from your Nation).



Manitoba


CINUP Scholarship Program University & Community College

Applicants must:
  1. Have completed high school, with a minimum scholasitc average of 75% (please submit most recent grades)
  2. Be currently enrolled in a pre-approved post-secondary institution
  3. Write a 500-word essay about the value of education and how education will brighten his/her future
  4. There is no age restriction

Winner Obligations
  1. Each scholarship winner is responsible for making arrangements with and meeting the academic requirements for entrance into a post secondary institution of his/her choice.
  2. Each scholarship winner is responsible for ensuring the institution meets the eligibility criteria of the scholarship program.
  3. Following notificiation of his/her selection for the scholarship, each scholarship winner must provide us with confirmation of admission to the post-secondary institution of his/her choice in order to recieve the award.

Saskatchewan


Napolean LaFontaine Economic Development Scholarship

Applicants must:
  1. be Metis or Non-Status Indians;
  2. have resided in Saskatchewan for at least five years;
  3. be committed to working in an Aboriginal environment;
  4. have completed a minimum of one academics year of full-time studies at a recognized Canadian public or Aboriginal educational institution. The program must be at least eight months of full-time studies in an area related to economic development
  5. be committed to the needs of Aboriginal peoples
  6. have achieved a 'B' average in the most recent eight months of full-time studies, over a period of 12 consecutive months
